Incorporated associations in New South Wales must have a governing document that sets out the rules and procedures for how the group will operate. This document is called the association’s ‘constitution’ or ‘rules’.
Under New South Wales law, certain things must be included in an association’s constitution. The Associations Incorporation Regulation 2022 (NSW) includes a template constitution called the ‘model constitution’ which includes these compulsory items. You can download the model constitution from NSW Fair Trading’s website.
